Jane Fryer, ERYT 500, NYI 1000, C-MMT, has spent more than five decades immersed in the study and practice of embodied consciousness, yoga, meditation, restorative healing arts, and spiritual inquiry. Her lifelong devotion to the inner journey began in the 1970s following graduate studies in the Psychology of Women and Media, which ultimately led her into a transformative yogic ashram experience where she received Shaktipat initiation — a moment that profoundly shaped the direction of her life and work.
From her early years living a renunciate life within the Kripalu Ashram tradition to pioneering global yoga retreat experiences through her company Inward Bound in the 1990s, Jane has dedicated her life to creating spaces for healing, reflection, connection, and transformation. Through decades of teaching, travel, and study, she has cultivated a deeply intuitive and integrative approach that bridges restorative yoga, meditation, mindfulness, nervous system healing, spirituality, astrology, and contemplative wisdom traditions.
Living in Nosara, Costa Rica since 2007, Jane continues to evolve into what she lovingly describes as the archetypal Wise Woman and Elder. Her current body of work, including Restorative Rhythms and The Restorative Spectrum, reflects the culmination of a lifetime devoted to understanding the rhythms of healing, rest, resilience, and embodied awareness. Her teachings draw from extensive immersion in Kripalu, Sivananda, Iyengar, and Anusara yoga traditions, while also incorporating influences from Traditional Chinese Medicine, soul-centered astrology, Tantra, and the contemplative path of the Divine Feminine.
Jane’s medicine is rooted in remembering the natural ebb and flow of life — the understanding that beneath every experience, we remain the vastness of the sky while thoughts, emotions, and circumstances simply move through as weather. Through restorative yoga, Yoga Nidra, meditation, Breath awareness, and embodied inquiry, she invites students to reconnect with the wisdom of the nervous system, the intelligence of the heart, and the deeper rhythms that restore resilience, compassion, and inner steadiness.
Known for her spontaneous insight, warmth, humor, and deeply intuitive presence, Jane teaches not only from decades of study, but from lived experience. Her dharma is to inspire wisdom, cultivate connection, and hold spaces where people can soften, listen inwardly, and rediscover the profound healing intelligence already within them — as well as its capacity to become a gateway to the Infinite, the Universal, and the sacred unfolding of life itself.

"My breathwork mentor has been the kind of mentor and teacher I’ve always wanted but didn’t think existed. The kind I always imagined a real mentor was: someone that you really work alongside like an apprenticeship. Someone that knows you well and where your challenge areas are from the close contact and oversight that they have of you. Someone that cares about you and your growth. Someone that supports you when you need to be nudged or met where you’re at. Someone that really shows you the ropes in a way that you can’t get from a text book or lecture. You know, how mentorship’s and apprenticeships must have looked like in the old days and in tribes 🙂."

"In my search for eternal truth, she was the first to hold me with quiet power. In every session, her hands feel woven from threads of another dimension — light like breath, steady like earth. There is no fear in journeying through the breath with Ashley, because her presence invokes a deep-rooted safety, the kind that cannot be taught — only embodied."

"My relationship to myself has shifted through my work with Ashley and that in turn has shifted other relationships in my life. I see things through a different lens. I'm able to not be so reactionary and if I am, I can sit and observe myself later. I've been able to access more forgiveness for myself and for others in that process. It's helped me move stagnant and unserving energy in my body that I might not have found the tools to deal with otherwise. The work gave me the tools to access these points, realizations, emotions, physical forms that I have built up externally and emotional walls that I have built internally that were keeping me from my highest potential. She taught me to teach myself through movement, breath, silence, reflection, slowing down......It's been life changing."
